As the home of Jumps racing in the UK, Cheltenham Racecourse host some of the most important meetings on the calendar in the sport. The opening fixture at the Gloucestershire-based venue comes with The Showcase between 25th-26th October.
Ground staff have been working hard on the racecourse throughout the summer to ensure the racecourse is in prestige condition ahead of the start of their season, which looks set to be an exciting one.
Cheltenham Festival 2025
All roads will lead to the Cheltenham Festival in March this season, with the championship meeting being the most valuable week of the year in the sport. Cheltenham Racecourse are expected to have bumper crowds once again across the four days of the Festival, with over 200,000 spectators set to arrive.
The biggest day of the year is Cheltenham Gold Cup Day. Galopin Des Champs has won the Blue Riband event in the sport in twice. If he returns in March, which he is expected to, he will be vying to become the first horse to complete a hat-trick in the Festival feature since Best Mate in 2004.
In the Champion Hurdle, Constitution Hill is expected to make his return to action. The former winner missed the meeting through injury earlier this year. Nicky Hendersonโs runner has already established himself as one of the best 2m hurdlers in history. The unbeaten star will be bidding to join an elite club of horses to win the day one Championship race more than once.
Changes To Meeting
Ahead of the new 2024/25 National Hunt season, Cheltenham Racecourse have announced some changes to their programme and venue. The Turnersโ Novices Chase and Cross Country Chase will both be handicap races in 2025, while the National Hunt Challenge Cup, is set to include professional jockeys from next year.
Cheltenham have revealed a range of initiatives to help improve the flow of traffic to their venue. It will include a new park and ride scheme to take racegoers from the town centre to the racecourse.
Tickets are already on sale for the 2025 Cheltenham Festival and discounts are available for racegoers purchasing two or more days at the meeting this season.
Early Fixtures
There are three fixtures in late 2024 at Cheltenham for racing fans to enjoy. The season begins with the Showcase Meeting. A month later the November Meeting takes place over two days, while in December, the Christmas Meeting concludes the action for the calendar year.
Every owner in the sport will be hoping their horse shines at one of the three meetings in late 2024 as that will boost the chances of their horse featuring at the Festival in March. Now is a good time to buy a share in a racehorse in the sport. Shares can be purchased from as little as ยฃ33, and it may lead to you being in the Owners and Trainers lounge at one of the meetings at Cheltenham this season.
Another important month for Cheltenham Racecourse is January. The trials for the Festival take place in early 2025 and they are the last chance for horses to have a run around the course before the big meeting in March.
