Have you decided to get fit and right? Are you wondering how exactly to go about it? First, we would like to applaud you on your noble goal — and then tell you that the best way to achieve whatever fitness goal is to create a routine that can help you achieve said goal. Let’s talk about it!
1. Define Your Goals
Knowing where you want to go will ensure you don’t get lost somewhere along the way. So what do you want for your body? Do you want to be lean and mean? Do you want to be beefcake or do you simply want the endurance of a cross fitter? Knowing the destination will help you make choices that get you there. If being a beefcake with tonnes of muscle is the goal, eating loads of protein and strength training is the road you should take!
2. Assess Your Current Fitness Level
This information will determine how intense your routine can be. And don’t worry if you have no frame of reference (we all have to start somewhere!) Simply take note of how many (if any) push-ups, squats or laps you can complete comfortably. Use this as a benchmark which you can then measure against in the future. Having a fitness professional help you determine where you are should you be a complete novice to exercise wouldn’t hurt either!
3. Structure Your Workout Plan
The fun part — planning your exercise! A balanced program includes cardio, strength training and flexibility exercises. The golden rule is to exercise moderately 30 minutes 5 days a week. Run, swim, bike, pull up a YouTube NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED exercise video and workout. Whatever floats your boat. Find something you enjoy and that works for your schedule. Whether it’s getting up at 6 am before work or hitting up the gym after the office, make it a time that you can be consistent with. And make sure to schedule rest days so your body can recover and repair (and be stronger than when you started!).
4. Nutrition and Supplementation
A plan is not complete without considering the role diet plays in your fitness journey. A balance of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins will see you through. And if you’re truly looking to maximise your results, consider supplements. SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators) have become quite popular in the health and fitness community for their potential to build muscle and reduce fat. You’ve likely heard of UK SARMs and LGD-4033, with many offering up reviews as they relate to such products. However, it goes without saying that any supplementation ought to be done in moderation and with the consent of your healthcare provider. No supplement or pill will get you to a fitter, healthier you!
5. Stay Committed and Adjust
It’s easy to jump the gun and hit the gym hard for a few weeks and then the excitement wears off. But if you really want to see those gains or results you have to stay in the game for a while. That means finding a way to keep yourself motivated like having a fitness buddy or getting a trainer. Also doing something you hate will not keep you motivated so adjust when needed and find stuff that gets you results while titillating you.
A Fitness Routine To Fit Any Lifestyle
Fitness should never be difficult, it is as simple as creating a fitness routine that gets you to your goal. Say you want to be a “muscle mummy” but you can’t spend loads of time in the gym due to work and/or the family — having a routine that fits into your lifestyle will certainly help you accomplish your goal without making it feel like a chore. Here is to a gloriously fit you!
